Views from the Saddle

Nancie reports back from Crete

The country is a combination of olive groves, vineyards, rugged, rocky countrysides and small villages with riders reaching the Agean Sea about two-thirds through the week.  The sound of water lapping at the coastline while enjoying lunch was most memorable.   The horses are fit and handle the well-marked trails in their stride while the ride is for riders experienced and comfortable in English tack and who enjoy challenging riding at times. They have one of the cutest type A Welsh Ponies I have ever seen – just adorable.

The stable/hotel/restaurant where the ride is based is wonderfully comfortable with great views across the small valley and the village below, a swimming pool with views! and wonderful meals, with my favorite being Greek yoghurt with local honey for breakfast.  The food is amazing and something I hadn’t expected!
